IOPP 48-Hour Repack Design Challenge

IOPP (institute of Packaging Professionals) presented a 48 hour repack design challenge to any college student globally. Evelyn Jacob and I accepted this challenge. We were given 48 hours to create a unique packaging solution for Coca-Cola. Our Design was then judged based on Aesthetics, Sustainability, Packaging Quality, and overall design

Design Insporation

Current Packaging

Our first step was to see what current packaging is on the market and discuss what makes these designs work well and what we should work to avoid while designing

Design Ideation

Model 1

This is the first model we worked on some key features we carried on throughout this process was the can grip cut out

Model 2

For this second model we worked on adding more graphics but this still wasn’t up to our standard and wanted to switch up our design

Model 3

This was the final design we decided to stack the 2 cans this way we could use minimal packaging and take up minimal space for storage.

Design Direction

This was our main inspiration while working on our final model. You can see some of the key call-outs, such as our QR code integrated here, and the general shape of the final packaging

Final Design

The Coca-Cola: Dare to Share creates a refreshing take on the Share a Coke line. While previous campaigns focus on the iconography and collectibility of names and songs, Dare to Share engages with consumers' desire for experience. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, research has found that the current generations place more value on experiences than on physical products. Coca-Cola: Dare to Share provides an easy activity through its form to capitalize on this. Consumers each grab a Coke from the package and pull it out with a satisfying pop. Whichever consumer receives the main portion of the packaging takes part in a safe, simple challenge printed on the inside of the label. This helps to create a fun memory for the consumer to tie directly back to their love of Coca-Cola.
